Vivien of Holloway 1940's dress

SOLD!

vivhol c

Gorgeous 1940's style dress from Vivien of Holloway in perfect black, dark green and white floral print with tiny orange highlights. Padded shoulders, sarong style skirt with swag, and fitted waist. Zips up the side.

It is their size 10, which according to their website is 32/24/36 b/w/h, but it is sadly too big for me and I have found it to come up larger than this. It is also for taller ladies than me, so although I love this dress and the beautiful dark green and orange small floral print, it just doesn't sit on me as it should. They also seem to be sold out online at the moment, too! The measurements I took are:

Measurements

Bust 36
Waist 26
Hips 38

Shoulder to Shoulder 14.5
Shoulder to Waist 16
Length 47

Condition
Excellent – as though it had never been worn; I've only worn it a handful of times.

Sailor wiggle dress by Miss Hussy

mishus b

Curve hugging sea green dress with large sailor collar, two little bows and buttons on the front, and gorgeous contrast white piping. Zips up the back. Some stretch to the fabric. Really comfortable and cute! Please note that the colour is closest to the close up pic, (where I'm not wearing it) though not quite as dark; it was a dark, stormy and gloomy day when I took these pics and the light kept bouncing all over the place!

*All measurements taken flat and doubled. Measurements given are fabric resting - fabric stretched.

1940's stripe dress

strsec b

Great little 1940s stripe dress in navy and ivory, with long full sleeves caught in tight cuffs, a fitted waist panel and gently puff sleeves at the shoulder. Buttons down the front, and zips at the side. Two faux pockets at the bust. Falls to a bit below the knee. Great dress!

Measurements

Please note that this is a tiny dress, and has no stretch!

Bust 36
Waist 23.5
Hips 38

Shoulder to Shoulder 14.5
Shoulder to Waist 16 (but is blouson style above that waist panel, so is meant to be a little loose; best for a slightly shorter torso)
Length 40

Condition
Good wearable condition, especially for its age. There are some tiny holes throughout – one on the waistband (but it is only on one layer so no skin/slip shows through), one on the shoulder (as pictured). There are a few places of a bit of discolouration where the blue colour has bled slightly into the ivory stripes, leaving a slight pinkish tinge – this really is not very noticeable. There is a little mark on the back of the collar (as shown) and most of the discolouration is on the shoulders (also as shown). All of these are pretty minor, and it is still a great dress with lots of life left in it, for the right tiny person! I have adjusted the price accordingly – and my prices are already super cheap as I need the space! :) The hem shows strands of fabric that could do with trimming, but the hem is sewn and in tact.

1940's cute stripe dress with peter pan collar

strdre d

Really sweet little cotton dress, blue and white stripes with a peter pan collar in white eyelet backed with red, and matching white eyelet waist panel, also backed in red cotton. Little puff sleeves, trimmed in the red cotton. Buttons down the back to the waist, and has two ties at the waist, to tie in a bow at the back. The back of the waist is elasticated for ease of getting the dress on and off and for comfort; the elastic still has plenty of stretch.

Measurements

Bust 34
Waist 26
Hips free

Shoulder to Shoulder 13 (seam to seam) 16 (with the puff sleeve)
Shoulder to Waist 13
Length 31, plus 4 or 6 inches to let down (I believe it is 6inches, but I the hem is nicely sewn over each time, and I don't want to unpick it just to find out!)

Condition
Excellent condition, the cotton is soft but still very firm. No stains, rips or odours etc, just one tiny mark near the hem on the front left, as pictured. Gets lost in the stripy pattern and folds of the skirt. Bright and sweet!

1940's swing dress with contrast colour bow

SOLD!

bowcol f

Absolutely gorgeous 1940s swing dress in navy, with contrasting panel with ties at the bust in warm mustard and coral. The ties are long enough to make a bow! Buttons down the side in a hidden placket. Shoulder pads, great little pleating detail at the cuffs. Skirt has front split to allow lots of dancing!

This was one of my first vintage online purchases, and I got a bit too excited at the awesomeness of this dress and decided that the fact it was a bit big for me wouldn't matter, but of course it does! I just loved the style and colours of it.

Measurements

Bust 38
Waist 28
Hips 39

Shoulder to Shoulder 16
Shoulder to Waist 17
Length 41

Condition
Very good condition. Some wear and fading on sleeves, but this is really minor. In fact it is no where near as bad as it looks in the photos, but the crease in the sleeve makes it look lighter/darker than it is. Some colour run form the navy into the yellow panels, but it doesn't really show/stand out when worn.
